For control and instant alerting of vehicle or asset movements into proximity of corporate control points, FleetScan offers can propose the use of full
2-way active RFID communication with miniaturized battery-operated electronic tags, seals and locks. Using these components, readers can control
objects much more reliably, covering areas of just a few hundred square metres. As well as collecting data, the readers (which can occasionally be placed
in severe environments) may be monitored from remote centers over long time periods.
FleetScan's RFID DataTag and DataReaders may be used together with standalone software, or over the ASP-based FleetScan Sat-Trak Command Center interface.
The Command Center would typically be used if the user has a mix of both GPS-based and RFID-based devices to monitor.
RFID installations typically require an outlay of higher capital expenditures at time of initial installation, with hardwired or wireless meshing (daisy-chaining)
of a grid of RFID DataReaders with a read range of up to 300 meter radius, depending on existing buildings or other obstructions. After installation however,
RFID will typically incur lower monthly operating costs than GPS-based solutions.
